August 2021 Prayer Letter

II Timothy 3:1-5 = “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God;”
On July 31st I had the privilege of officiating at my grandson’s wedding. Little did I know when I suggested that Michael and Rachel would probably enjoy texting each other that they would end up getting married. As I watched them in recent days it was very obvious that there was a natural attraction and affection that they had for each other. At the wedding were families with their children and it was also pretty obvious that the parents loved and enjoyed their offspring. That is a natural response.
Sadly, however, we are living now at a time where affection for those that we naturally would love is not there. More and more marriages are ending in divorce because the affection is gone. Mothers are not only willing to murder their unborn offspring, but, in some cases, are even applauding the opportunity to do it. I believe it was Arthur Godfrey many years ago that sang a song “Doing what comes naturally”. My, how what that means has changed. Even many church going people are abandoning what God originally instilled in people as a natural affection to devising a new affection. One that Paul referred to in verse 2 above. “…men shall be lovers of their own selves..”
I am still battling some health issues but have been able to keep my schedule. Your prayers for me that I might be able to continue are greatly appreciated. My schedule is now full until April of next year.
I would encourage you to get your high schoolers involved in our essay contest. School will be starting this month and it’s not too early to begin to work on that. The guidelines for the essay contest are on our website.
I realize that the concern about the covid pandemic is a real concern for many people. Let’s be reminded that the Lord is still in charge and be considerate of each other. I have had 2 churches in the last 2 months where the pastor has come down with it. At one church they still had services and at the other the services had to be canceled because several of the lead people also had it. Let’s pray that the Lord will use this to cause more people to realize the reality of their mortality and seek to prepare for the day they will stand before God. I’m glad I am ready, are you?
Thank you for all your prayers and support of this important ministry.
