God’s Greatest Attribute

As we look forward to Valentine’s Day, we are reminded of God’s love to us. Of course, the greatest verse on love is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish; but have everlasting life.” Someone broke down this verse like this:
- For God – greatest lover
- So loved – greatest motive
- The world – greatest need
- That He gave – greatest sacrifice
- His only begotten Son – greatest gift
- That whosoever believeth – greatest trust
- In Him – greatest possession
- Should not perish – greatest promise
- But have everlasting life – greatest assurance
The Father’s love for all of us is unconditional. He loves the whole world (7 billion people.) The word “so” has the idea of tenderness and care for the world. God acted upon His love by giving His Son to die for you and me. It was His great love that sent His Son to leave Heaven’s glory and come to this sin cursed world.
God’s love does not save us from our sin, it is His grace. Eph. 2:8,9 “For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.” Where would we be without the grace of God? We would be lost and headed for Hell. As the songwriter tells us “Wonderful grace of Jesus, greater than all our sin…”
Praise the Lord the number one goal of the four pregnancy care centers is to give the Gospel of grace to everyone who enters the center. They need to be loved by those who minister in the centers. It is a great contrast from the uncaring, cold atmosphere of the abortion clinic.
Thank you to all those who work in the four centers. May many come to Christ because of your love for them.
Special thanks to Julaine Appling and her staff for working tirelessly for the Pro life license plates! Do you have yours?
