How Much Does God Love Life?

BFLW Devotional

1. Creation demonstrates that God took a personal interest
We also see early in Scripture that our creation was purposeful.  God wanted, and still wants to fellowship with us!

2. Construction in such detail speaks of love.
Particularly when it comes to life, God gave us a very definitive starting point when we must defend life.  That is conception, the appearance of the unique DNA that is a new person.  When authorities were satisfied with following Scripture they did not question when they should defend life.  Once our civil authorities decided to follow science instead, they had a clear distinction to use, and a responsibility to protect life, but they got that horribly wrong.  In 1973 they chose “viability” over conception, which is totally illogical, and it is a standard (24 weeks) which has constantly changed.

3. Consecration is setting something apart as special, holy.
Out of love, God has done that with Life, demanding in Genesis 9:6 that, “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.”

God did not demand the sacrifice of any human life.  He only commanded punishment for murderers, and called for courage in facing death.  Some Bible characters committed suicide… but they are never a positive example for us.

Jesus did “lay down His life” for us, but it was not any kind of suicide.  Neither was it a religious ritual.  Pagans would have had their priests lay a human sacrifice on an altar to be killed.  Jesus merely allowed civil authorities to carry out the greatest injustice ever.  He submitted to His death.  Then, He could have left us there, mourning Him for generations, but He came back to life to promise us victory over death and eternal life!
