Ecclesiastes 12:13 = “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” I’ve heard many messages on the subject of “Fearing the Lord.” Often it is explained as having a reverential awe of God for who He is. However, I believe it means a whole lot more than that.
It’s a knowledge that someday we will stand before Him and give an account of ourselves. There is a difference between being afraid of someone and fearing them. Being afraid of someone is the result of not knowing how they will respond to situations that present themselves. The mood the person is in at that particular moment will determine how they will deal with it. That’s why people will be concerned with the mood a person is in when trying to correct a problem.
On the other hand, Fearing someone is the result that their response is going to be the same each time to the same situation. It is good to know that our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We never catch Him in a bad mood. We are reminded in Galatians 6:7 = “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Though we know our ultimate condemnation was paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ, the knowledge of the fact that some day I will stand before the Lord motivates me to live in a way that I won’t be ashamed. How about you?
April has been one our busiest months yet. Not only was I able to be in 4 churches during the month, I also attended 3 pregnancy center board meetings, a pastors workshop, a ladies retreat, and a pro-life rally. What a blessing it was to see how well our centers are doing and I was encouraged by the number of people that are involved with pro-life activity in this State.
Our essay and video contests are officially over and I will be announcing the winners next month. Thanks to all who participated. The information for the contests for next year will also be made available soon.
I am constantly praying that the Lord would show us how we could have a greater impact in our state in pro-life matters. One answer to that prayer was that we need to get more involved with praying outside abortion clinics. In the movie “Unplanned” that has just come out there was a statistic quoted that when people pray and witness outside an abortion clinic, the number of abortions drops by 75%. That is an amazing number. You may not feel capable of working at a pregnancy center, but you can pray. Please be in prayer and ask the Lord what He would have you do in this matter.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord through Baptists for Life of Wisconsin. I have only 2 Sundays in November to fill to have my schedule filled for the year. It has been such a blessing to have so many churches in the state willing to allow me to come and present this important work. May the Lord bless you for it. I am excited about what lies ahead for Nancy and me and this important ministry. Thanks for your prayers and financial support.
