October 2024 Prayer Letter

I Timothy 2:1&2 =“I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all goodliness and honesty.” When Paul was writing this, he was living in a day when the common man had no say or vote as to who would be their authority. He was telling Timothy “Pray in every way possible for those over you that it might go well with you.”
At the present, in this Country, we do have a vote on who our leaders are. I believe if Paul were addressing us today he would challenge us to use our vote to elect people that are following scriptural mandates the closest. I believe the most important issue is where they stand on abortion, and both sides have stated their position. It may be that we are coming to the place where God writes “Ichabod” (the glory has departed) over our nation, but we, as His children need to stand for what is right as much as possible.
We are now entering the last quarter of the final year of my ministry as director of Baptists for Life of Wisconsin. As of right now we have no one lined up to take my place. I don’t understand it. I have counted it a privilege and a blessing to serve in this capacity for the last 12+ years, and I believe I have been doing something that is important to the cause of Christ. I would say that these past 12 years have been some of the most enjoyable and rewarding ones of my life, but then again, my whole life has been filled with more blessings than a person should expect living on a sin-cursed earth, and in a sin-cursed body. Please keep praying for the one God has already prepared to step up and lead this ministry forward.
Please encourage your high schoolers to consider getting involved is our essay contest. The theme this year is “THE POTENTIAL OF A LIFE”. It is due by January 31, 2025. You can find the guidelines at our web site www.bflw.org/essays.
Thank you all for your prayers and support of this important ministry.
In Christ,
Andrew K. Buhrow
Executive Director
