Exodus 12:1-2 “And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.” God was about to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt and take them to the land He had chosen for them. They now were a great Nation and God was going to lead them as His special people. It was the start of a new relationship for them.
Every new year brings a fresh new beginning for us. A chance to establish new goals, develop better practices, and improve our character. There may be things that happened this past year that we regret and a new year gives a clean slate to do better this year. There also may be some things that happened this past year that we are thankful for and we would like to build on next year. In any case it’s good to have a new year and to seek to make it a great year.
I must say that 2016 was a great year for me and I am looking forward to doing what the Lord has for me in 2017. Plans for the year include: Delivering our signed petition booklets to our elected officials in Madison on the 17th of January, Our Pro-Life rally at Faith Baptist Church in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on April 22nd, and our Summit for all pregnancy center workers August 11th & 12th at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, Wisconsin.
We would like to have a person from each church that signed our petition to join with us in Madison to help us deliver the booklets. We would also like them to contact their Assemblyman and Senator and make an appointment with them to deliver the booklet personally. We will be meeting in the North hearing room on the 2nd floor of the Capitol building at 10:00 AM on the 17th of January. Let me know if you are coming.
Our essay and video contests are winding down. The deadline is January 31st. Last year I had put an advertisement in the booklet for the Christian School convention held in Michigan that covered several mid-western States including Wisconsin. The other day I received a packet from a school in Ohio with 24 essays. We only had one video submitted last year. This year I hope we have many more.
Our Rally this year will be at Faith Baptist Church in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on the 22nd of April. Julaine Appling will be our speaker. We again will have the challenge of burying me in diapers (new, unused) so plan on bringing some with you. The rally will start at 2:00 PM. You can download the flyer here.
I will be working on the details of our Summit in August in the days ahead. We want it to be as helpful as possible for our center workers. Pray the Lord gives me wisdom in that.
One new change in our personal lives. My wife Nancy, will be taking over as the director of the Agape Center in LaCrosse in January. My daughter, Penny has taken a teaching job at a Christian School. We still have my mom with us so it will be a challenge to keep up with everything.
Continue to pray about our finances. There is much to do and our financial situation limits what we can and can’t do.
Thank you all for your faithful prayers for this vital ministry.
In His Service,
Andrew K. Buhrow
