September 2024 Prayer Letter

Psalms 37:25 =“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread.” I certainly qualify for the first part of that verse and I will say that, by personal experience, I will attest that the second part is true as well. Though there were times I went without what I wanted, I never went without what I needed. My God is good all the time.
As we get nearer to the day we step down as the director of BFLW and the other ministries the Lord has allowed me to be involved in, I am amazed at the way He has provided for Nancy and me and my family. Twelve years ago when we accepted the call to this ministry we purchased a home outside of Sparta and took out a 15 year loan. A couple of weeks ago we paid off our mortgage and are debt free probably for the first time in 60 plus years of marriage.
We don’t have much in savings and the only income we will have is social security, but Nancy keeps reminding me that God has carried us this far, and she has confidence He will continue to take care of us until He takes us home.
Our summit we held in August was a huge success. Everyone that had a responsibility came through and I greatly appreciate all their work. All the sessions were recorded so if you would like to be able to see them let me know.
School has now started for the 24—25 school year. Please encourage your high school students to get involved in our essay contest. All the necessary information is available on our website www.bflw.org/essays. There are awards of $400, $200, and $100 for first, second, and third places.
Continue to pray that the Lord will raise up my successor in the coming days so this ministry can continue. I have been extremely blessed to be the director for these past 12 years and know I would never have enjoyed these years as much if I had not served the Lord in this ministry. We have met and made so many new friends along the way and have been enriched in so many ways it would be hard to count. To us a stranger is just a friend we haven’t met yet.
May the Lord bless you as you labor for Him. Thank you for all your prayers and support for this important ministry.
In Christ,
Andrew K. Buhrow
