September 2026 Prayer Letter

Prayer Letters

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

We truly value your prayers as we advance in this new position. In August, we had the opportunity to minister in two more churches: Immanuel Baptist Church in Rice Lake and First Baptist Church in Oak Creek. Our schedule is also filling up, with September full and most of October and half of November already scheduled.

We also attended another women’s center board meeting. We praise the Lord that, although these centers continue to see fewer clients than before Covid and have a shortage of volunteers, they are overall doing well in serving their communities and sharing the gospel with those who come in. Please pray for all four of these women’s centers: Access in Madison, Agape in La Crosse, Alpha in Milwaukee, and Assurance in Appleton. Please especially pray for a new director for the Madison center and a client manager in Milwaukee.

As we consider ways to help churches equip the saints, I am increasingly aware of the urgent need to prepare our children to remain faithful Christians and servants of God. The world, especially in America, seeks to weaken and corrupt them in every possible way. Secular education is an obvious means of doing this, so we must be careful to protect our children and counter false teaching during the limited time we have with them throughout the week.

Even more dangerous, however, is the subtle propaganda entering our homes through media, including social media, television, movies, and other forms of multimedia, especially on our phones. Many Christian parents try to monitor what their children are exposed to, but I believe an even greater threat is the influence these things have on the parents themselves.

First, when parents spend too much time on these things, they have less time and sensitivity for their children’s needs. There are only so many hours a day between work, school, and bedtime. If parents are focused on television, they may not ask what their child learned at school that day, even if the child is homeschooled.

Second, it is easy for Christian parents to become numb to God’s principles when they continually absorb the world’s opposing viewpoint and false doctrine through these influences. Fathers are demeaned, Christian values are criticized, and teens and children are often portrayed as having authority over their parents with freedom to do whatever they want without parental guidance.

Parents must begin very early, even before a child fully understands what is being taught, to prepare them for the secular and spiritual battles ahead. We cannot take our guidance from the internet, and certainly not from television, on how to raise and discipline our children. The Bible clearly teaches that we must constantly and consistently place God and His Word before them (Deuteronomy 6:5-9), not only through our words but also through our example. Christian parents must discipline their children properly, so they understand that life has consequences and that we reap what we sow.

Please pray for Christian parents across the country, that we will be faithful stewards of the children the Lord has entrusted to us.

Please also continue to pray for the upcoming November elections. Several articles I have read indicate that abortion is the leading issue in this election. We must fulfill our responsibilities as children of God and temporary citizens of Wisconsin in a society that opposes God.

Thank you for your faithfulness, prayers, and support. Take care, and God bless.
