Striking While the Iron is Hot

BFLW Devotional

While most of the work of a blacksmith is unknown to me, I do get the concept of “striking while the iron is hot.” It well reflects the Scripture’s command to be “redeeming the time because the days are evil.” The iron is hot now in the Pro-life movement, especially in our state. We all must know that recent election victories for conservatives do not give us any cause to be complacent. Hopefully we are all exercising our freedom to evangelize, and are looking to capitalize on this hour of opportunity to minister to women who are finding their options for escaping their pregnancies more and more limited. We hope to show them a better way of life in the short term and for eternity!

I am the newest member of the Baptists for Life of Wisconsin board, although I have been a long-time supporter of their work, especially with pregnancy care centers. This note is my first opportunity to speak out on behalf of BFLW and encourage you to consider supporting this ministry prayerfully and financially. As we approach the end of 2016 we are about 25%, almost $10,000 short of reaching our budget. We have cut our expenses (Brother Buhrow has done a good job of being frugal) but we do not want to take any steps backward with this vital outreach.

Perhaps the Lord will lead you to make a Christmas or year-end gift for life, or you will make preparations now for the new year. This would be a great time to put BFLW in your church budget or to take a special offering as the anniversary of Roe V. Wade approaches in January.

We want to serve your church in this ministry. Please pray for us, stand with us before our government, and support us as you are led of the Lord. I also encourage you to contact Andy Buhrow to represent BFLW and challenge your church with a vision for compassionate outreach. The iron is hot, let’s strike it now!
