The Honor of Motherhood

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, what a special time when we honor our mothers for all that they do.
For many years I honored my Mom with a bouquet of flowers. My mom was always there for me, whether it was a music concert or a ball game. Her children were her pride and joy, and later on the before she died she received Christ as her Savior. My mom had an unconditional love for all of us. Hats off to my lovely wife who helped raise our children to love and serve the Lord!
I am so glad that my Mom was pro-life. Recently I was at a Pro Life March at the capitol in Madison. There was a group of older women chanting some kind of song for abortion. They were there because their mothers were pro life and they didn’t even realize it.
The Lord has always honored mothers in the Bible. Let me give you some good examples: Hannah, who was barren for many years prayed for a child and God gave her Samuel. At an early age he was sensitive to God’s calling in his life. He said, “speak Lord for thy servant heareth”. He later became a great prophet of God because of his parent’s upbringing. It behooves us as parents and grandparents to bring our children up in the ways of the Lord.
Mary, the earthly mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was given the great honor of bearing the Christ child, her response, “…Behold the handmaid (servant) of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word.” Luke 1:38. She became an avid follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was there at the cross and latter in the upper room praying for God’s power at Pentecost.
It is sad to see how the world has mocked and degraded the pristine honor of motherhood today. One of the major reasons is abortion. Since 1973 our country has murdered over 60 million babies! Of all those many, think of all the mothers who could have raised their children to serve the Lord.
Mothers, be proud that you are a Mom and help those to make the right decision regarding “Motherhood.”
