The Option of Adoption-3rd Place

“There are no unwanted children. Just unfound families” -National Adoption Center
Adoption centers find homes for babies whose parents could not care for them. Plenty of women who are pregnant out of wedlock, not ready, a victim of a crime, etc. think that abortion is the only option, when in reality there are so many more. Adoption is the best alternative to abortion. Abortion is the murdering of babies while the choice of adoption allows the baby to live out its full purpose that the Lord has for him. There are plenty of other alternatives to abortion, but this essay will be focusing in on the option for adoption.
The following is the Webster’s Dictionary definition of human: HUMAN, adjective [Latin humanus; Heb. form, species.] Belonging to man or mankind; pertaining or relating to the race of man; as a human voice; human shape; human nature; human knowledge; human life. At the point of conception, a woman is already carrying a small human in her womb. The Bible tells us in Psalm 139: 19, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.” The Lord has hand crafted each unborn child in a mother’s womb; He has a plan for each person and that includes an unborn child. Adoption gives the unborn child a chance to pursue the purpose that the Lord has already planned for him. In Ephesians 1 :4-5, the Bible says, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.” Just as Christ adopts a new believer into His family, so can a new baby be adopted into a new family. Christ has thought about each and every child before He even created the world. Each child bas a God given purpose to fulfill, and abortion is not included.
Adoption is a “win-win.” Not only can the pregnant woman still get to meet her child, but also a family who cannot conceive will be blessed with a new born baby. About 12% to 15% of couples in the U.S. alone, cannot have a child of their own (https://www.nichd.nih.gov/). There are plenty of families and couples who would do anything to have the children that so many women decide to kill each day. Adoption opens doors to those who want to have a child and build a family, but physically cannot. Choosing adoption over abortion helps fulfill someone else’s dream of becoming a parent. An average of two million couples are waiting to adopt (https://www.americanadoptions.com/). Many times, families choose adoption in hopes of giving a child a good and loving home; many times these couples already have families of their own.
Adoption gives the pregnant woman hope that her baby will find a kind, nice, and loving home. Adoption removes the guilt pregnant woman have from killing their child. Most pregnant women want to give their child a happy life, but cannot do it themselves. This is why abortion would not be a good option. Abortion is murder while on the other hand adotion gives life. Each child deserves a chance to live a life and fulfill his God given purpose. Jeremiah 1 :5 says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou earnest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” The Lord has already prepared a plan for that fetus before it was even conceived in the womb. Each life serves a unique purpose. Adoption also gives the pregnant woman a chance to stay connected with their child. Pregnant women begin to love their child at an early time because it is a part of them. Each child has a special connection with their mother because of their physical connection in the womb. Adoption allows a mother to continue having a special connection with their child, while other parents give them a healthy, happy home.
The option of adoption is the best alternative to abortion because it allows the baby to have a chance at living a happy life and fulfilling his God given purpose, it allows infertile couples to fufill their dreams of being parents, and it allows the pregnant mother to remain in contact with the child. Abortion is heavily pushed in today’s society, but it is not the only option. Choosing life is always the best option and adoption can give a newborn baby the life he deserved.
